2007
Diesel Emissions Standards
All diesel
engines manufactured after January 1, 2007 must meet new EPA
regulations that require the reduction of nitrogen oxide (NOx)
and hydrocarbons (HC) by 50% and particulate matter (PM) by
90+% over the 2004 emissions standards. Additional
reductions of NOx, HC and PM will be required by 2010.
As a
result of the 2007 diesel emissions standards, medium and
heavy-duty truck customers will be negatively affected in
the following ways:
|
Increased vehicle PURCHASE PRICE (up to
$6000)
Increased cost of LOW SULFUR DIESEL FUEL
Decreased VEHICLE PERFORMANCE
Increased MAINTENANCE COST

U.S. EPA reports that
“Even with more stringent heavy-duty highway engine
standards set to take effect over the next decade…”
“No complete,
commercial or even laboratory system exists today that is
proven to meet EPA's proposed 97% cut in heavy-duty diesel
exhaust nitrogen oxides (NOx) and the 90% cut in particulate
matter (PM)”
“Reported fuel consumption
for heavy-duty engines has declined to 5.72 mpg”
“Given the shortened time frame the engine manufacturers and
oil companies have had to work with, there are still a lot
of unanswered questions…”
Beat the 2007 emissions hassle and expense!
It’s simple. To avoid this surge in
cost of operation, consider a high quality pre-owned truck
that was manufactured prior to 2007. At
Truck-N-Trailer, we always have a large selection of late
model medium duty commercial trucks to choose from.
